I enjoy taking my camera on visits to Assateague National Wildlife Refuge to take photos of the beautiful seashore and the awesome wildlife there. The Great Egret fishes in shallow water, standing motionless and spearing its prey with its long, yellow bill. It is a huge bird, standing at least 3 feet tall with a wingspan in excess of 4 feet wide. They are simply majestic and graceful. This fellow was basking in the sun on an April day. He was quite patient as I snapped several shots of him. I always enjoy painting birds and this one was no exception. Click on the image for a larger view. This painting is currently a part of my one woman show in the Foyer Gallery at the Art Institute & Gallery in Salisbury, MD. The show closes November 15th. Please contact me if you are interested in purchasing this painting.
